Visit and welcome reception at the GTL (November 4, 2009)

Georgia Tech Lorraine (GTL), the Georgia Institute of Technology's (Georgia Tech) platform into Europe is a non-profit corporation operating under French law. Its activities are divided into five main areas: graduate level education, sponsored research, undergraduate summer program, continuing education and local economic development targeted at hosting high-tech companies. Opened in October 1990, Georgia Tech Lorraine is a highly innovative venture under which an American university offers graduate programs in Europe. At GTL students can completely fulfill degree requirements toward the Master of Science degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology , and they can partially fulfill requirements for the Ph.D. degree. When joining this program, students from around the world get the opportunity to study and take courses taught in English by Georgia Tech faculty assigned to Georgia Tech Lorraine..

Gala dinner at the Nancy city hall (November 5, 2009)

The Nancy City Hall is the most famous building surrounding the square Place Stanislas which is Considered the most beautiful royal square in Europe and high point of Nancy’s outstanding collection of 18thC monuments, on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. The history of this place is very interesting. Stanislas Leszczynski was the King of Poland and the father in law of the French King Luis XV's. When Stanislas exiled to France, the French King gave hime the title of Duke of Lorraine. He built the new city with Place Stanislas as the center.

Others events

Visit of Lorraine Museum which is housed in the former Dukes' Palace, in the heart of the medieval city of Nancy. Its galleries cover 4,500m² on several superb sites in the heart of the Old Town: the Duke's Palace, the Cordeliers Monastery and Church. The Museum's fine collections cover the artistic and cultural life of the region from prehistory to today.

Visit of the DAUM collection which is part of Fine Arts Museum. It has over 300 art-glass works from the Daum Verreries. This original scenographic presentation of the Daum crystal collection allows visitors to explore 100 years of Nancy's well-known glasswork's production.
