MESD'17: information update

Dear MESD 2017 presenters, keynoters, panelists, moderators,

We are delighted to have you join us at Georgia Tech for the Fifth MESD'17 (Multinational Enterprise and Sustainable Development) conference on Thursday December 7 (welcome reception at 6pm at the GT Academy of Medicine), Friday December 8 for a full day of presentations and lunch at the GT Academy of Medicine* from 8:30 am to 5:30p pm, as well as Saturday, December 9 (9:30 am to 12:30 pm) at the nearby Scheller College of Business ending the conference.

As you know this year the conference is being organized jointly by the Georgia Tech Center for International Business Education and Research, the ICN Graduate School of Business ARTEM, the CEREFIGE of Nancy, France, the Georgia Tech Ray C. Anderson Center for Sustainable Business, Aalborg University, Denmark, and our colleagues at the University of Delhi who are supportive of our initiative. We express our thanks to the Scheller College of Business for its support.

The program is nearly complete and will be sent on. We have included all presenters who have offered papers and abstracts. We will have six companies also presenting their best governance and industry practices relating to sustainability.

All events are taking place at these two venues, next to each other in the Midtown Technology Square area of campus and near two MARTA subway stations (the Midtown Marta subway stop, 500 feet from the Academy or the North Avenue stop at the other end on the Red line, for convenience of location (rail-station-map).

Any visa issue should be directed to Mr. James Hoadley, Program Manager and Associate Director, GT CIBER (james.hoadley@scheller.gatech.edu).

Logistical issues

Hotels: Please be aware that due to a number of significant conferences being held in Atlanta at the same time as our conference, room availability is particularly acute. We strongly recommend making hotel reservations as early as possible. Our conference hotel is the Doubletree Druid Hills Emory Area (website). Please be advised that this hotel is not near transit. But is within 10 to 15 minutes of campus at Georgia Tech. We will provide transportation Thursday evening, Friday morning and Saturday morning from this particular hotel site to the Academy of Medicine conference site. For those requiring closer access to transit, we recommend the Embassy Suites Atlanta Perimeter Center. Additionally, for those who are on restricted budgets, there is availability at the Extended Stay America Buckhead. Both of these hotels are within a short walk of MARTA. The Embassy Suites Atlanta Perimeter Center is near Sandy Springs on the Red Line, and the Extended Stay America Buckhead is near the Brookhaven/Oglethorpe on the Gold line. Both the Red and Gold lines run in a roughly North/South direction, and require no train changes between the Midtown station (the station closest to the Conference venues) and Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. We strongly recommend making hotel reservations as early as possible, if you have not already.

Addresses

We have the presentation titles for most presenters. Please send us right away a biosketch (5 to 10 lines) of yours so that it can be inserted in the program. Additionally, if you have not done so, a short summary of what your remarks or presentation will address (5 lines). We would appreciate your advising us of your audio visual (A/V) needs for presentation purposes. More information will follow regarding presentation times and schedules in the coming few days.

As in years past, an edited book will result from this event based on the best completed papers as well as a special issue of a high impact journal (last time we worked with the Journal of Clean Production).

As COP 23 ends in Bonn and as we look towards the meeting to be held in Paris in mid-December to take stock of COP 21, our research conference comes at an opportune time in providing multidisciplinary perspectives from a range of country ‘s perspectives and industry sector’s standpoints.
